The Bradley Lumber Mill: A Century of Timber Excellence

For over 100 years, the Bradley Lumber Mill has been a pillar of the timber industry, deeply rooted in southern Arkansas. Founded in 1901 by Samuel Holmes Fullerton from St. Louis, the mill turned Warren into a thriving industrial center. It was more than a workplace—it was the heartbeat of Bradley County, employing thousands and shaping the region’s identity.

Rise of the Mill

From the start, the mill produced high-quality Southern Yellow Pine, creating products like furniture kits and construction materials shipped across the eastern United States. Its vast timberlands supported diverse operations, including a flooring plant and a hickory products division. By 1941, with 1,100 employees, the mill drove Warren’s economy and built a strong reputation for producing excellent softwood lumber products.

A New Chapter of Expansion

In the 1950s, Potlatch Forests Inc. acquired the mill and expanded its reach by purchasing Southern Lumber Company and over 100,000 acres of pine-rich land. Under Potlatch, the mill grew into a major producer of dimensional lumber and custom-milled components, helping build homes and businesses nationwide.

Renewal and Modern Operations

In 2002, Potlatch sold the mill to Wood Lumber Company as part of a business restructuring. While operations scaled down, the mill’s manufacturing capacity remained. After transitioning to Ashcraft Wood Products, it gained new energy in 2018 under Rand Wood Products. Today, Rand Wood specializes in Southern Yellow Pine products, offering planing, moulding, remanufacturing, storage, and loading services. With 240,000 square feet of manufacturing space under roof, plus direct rail and truck access, the mill serves wholesalers, builders, architects, retailers, and international partners, proudly continuing the Bradley legacy.
